Run Merrickville is proud to contribute $500 to the Friendship Luncheon group at Holy Trinity Anglican Church and two bursaries with a value of $500 each to high school graduates at North Grenville District High School and St Michael Catholic High School that align with our mission advocating and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Social interaction is a key part of living well, and the Friendship Luncheon embodies that spirit beautifully. By bringing people together in a welcoming, inclusive space, it strengthens connection, reduces isolation, and encourages the kind of emotional well-being that supports an active, healthy lifestyle. We happily handed over a cheque to Sally MacInnis to help provide luncheon supplies and treats, ensuring every guest feels cared for and included.
Investing in youth strengthens the overall well-being of our community and is a meaningful way to support young people as they take their next steps in education, work, and community life. Recognizing their hard work and commitment to an active, healthy lifestyle, we help encourage the next generation to stay engaged, stay moving, and stay connected. Run Merrickville is honoured to provide a bursary to these two graduating students.
Ben Gerien, Graduate of North Grenville District High School
Ben will be continuing his studies at McMaster University in Kinesiology. Ben is a hard working and high achieving student who also plays very high-level competitive Rugby.
Aimee Galbraith, Graduate of St Michael Catholic High School
Aimee will be continuing her studies at Ottawa University in Human Kinetics and Applied Studies in Kinesiology. Aimee decided to go this route because as an athlete, she wanted to stay connected to sports and how the body moves. Aimee wishes to pursue a job in coaching or physiotherapy to help athletes pursue their dreams of being able to compete at high levels in their sports.
All contributions made by Run Merrickville are provided only after all event expenses have been fully covered and sufficient funds are retained to ensure a solid start-up for the following year’s race. This approach allows us to give back responsibly while protecting the long-term sustainability of the Merrickville Heritage Classic event.
