MERRICKVILLE, ON — Brian Rowland, a para-alpine skier with World Cup credentials, is gearing up for his next big challenge: training for the 2026 Paralympic Games in Milano-Cortina, Italy.

Brian, a longtime Merrickville resident and graduate of North Grenville High School, made his Paralympic debut in Beijing after gaining international experience during the 2021–22 season. He competed in two World Cups and the World Para Snow Sports Championships, earning recognition for his grit and determination on the slopes.

His journey to elite sport began after a 2015 motocross accident resulted in a spinal cord injury. But the setback didn’t slow him down. Off the snow, Rowland continues to embrace adventure—surfing, mountain biking, and jet skiing with the same passion that fuels his skiing career.

As he prepares for the 2026 Games, Brian remains a source of pride and inspiration for the Merrickville community. His story is a testament to resilience, athleticism, and the power of pursuing one’s dreams—no matter the obstacles.

Run Merrickville is proud to support his journey and be part of his story with a $1000 donation. Every contribution helps cover training, travel, and equipment costs as he represents Canada on the world stage.
